F-M girls indoor track wins at Oscar Jensen Relays

first_imgOnce more, the Fayetteville-Manlius girls indoor track and field teams is finding a way to the top of the standings.With some of its runners just one week removed from competing in the Nike Cross Nationals, the Hornets still grabbed first place in the morning session of last Saturday’s Oscar B. Jensen Holiday Relays at SRC Arena.F-M had 83 points, well clear of runner-up Cazenovia (65 points). Claire Walters, who was fourth at the Nike Nationals, showed up here and won the mile run in four minutes, 53.63 seconds, with teammate Amelia Amack second in 5:40.27. Maddy Duggleby, in 3:12.57, beat out Debbie Lucchetti (3:15.18) for second place in the 1,000-meter run. Natalee Barber was fourth in the 55-meter hurdles in 10.10 seconds, with Katie Berge’ seventh (10.19) as Elrose Hanlon was sixth in the 300-meter dash in 46.31 seconds and Tochi Ezidiegwu was eighth in the shot put with 26’3 3/4”.On the boys side, F-M had Dan Sokolovic win the weight throw by heaving it 50’1”, further than his victory in the shot put that was attained with a toss of 43’5 1/2”.Daniel Patrick, who like Walters ran at the Nike Nationals, finished third in the 3,200-meter run in 10:27.04, with Trevor Kurkin fifth in the mile in 4:56.67.Jack Alitmonda ran to third in the 600 in 1:32.59 as James Peden got fourth in the 1,000 in 2:49.94. Corey Gallagher took fourth in the 55-meter dash in 6.99 seconds, while Ben Hutz was eighth in the 300 in 39.48 seconds.Moving to the afternoon session of the Jensen Relays, East Syracuse Minoa, Jamesville-DeWitt and Christian Brothers Academy all took part and had strong efforts.J-D’s Josh Duby won the boys 300 in 37.54 seconds over CBA’s Joel Gaffney (39.15) in the runner-up spot. Joe Staples was third in the 55 sprint in 6.86 seconds, with Duby (6.93) fifth. Reinaldo Colon took third in the 600 in 1:34.38.Caleb Smith also won for J-D, going 20’8 1/2” in the long jump as he also finished third in the high jump, clearing 5’8” and third in the triple jump with 38’4 1/4”.James Richer, throwing the shot put 43’8”, was 1-2 with Ben Staples (38’11”), while CBA had Gaffney win the 1,000 in 2:48.47, edging the Red Rams’ Sam Smith (2:48.75) as Brian Hulbert finished fourth.ESM had Nick Berg beat the field in the mile in 4:41.74 as CBA’s Zach Medicis was second in 4:43.79 and Michael McMahon (4:46.61) was fourth, with J-D’s Jaleel Boykins fifth. The Brothers’ Riley Nash was fifth in the 3,200.Rocky El had a winning triple jump of 42’11 3/4” for the Spartans and got second in the 55 hurdles in 8.36 seconds, ahead of J-D’s Nick Dekaney (8:43) and ESM’s Michael Parks (8.55). Bennett Ferrari was victorious in the pole vault, clearing 10 feet.On the girls side, ESM’s Rachael Ladd was victorious in the mile in 5:43.27, with teammate Mary Roach fifth as Ladd went on to win the 3,000 in 11:28.91. CBA’s Olivia Morganti tore to victory in the 600 in 1:40.73.In a high jump duel, ESM’s Rhiannon Butchko cleared 5’2” to edge J-D’s Laeticcia Bazile, who topped 5’1”.J-D’s Madeline Foss was second (11:48.04) to Ladd in the 3,000, with Monica Hernandez second in the 55 hurdles in 9.51 seconds. Grace Bridge took third in the 1,000 in 3:21.31 as Lucy Heflin was third and Eva Wisniewski fourth in the pole vault.
