VP Boakai Nudges Churches Toward Rural Banking

Boakai over the weekend met with fifty pastors from the statutory District of Foya and Churches in Montserrado County to discuss the issue of church involvement in rural banking, something he said will bring great relief to citizens in that part of the country.Rev. Joseph T.S. Menjor of the Free Pentecostal Global Mission, who organized the meeting, praised the idea saying that thousands of their members in those parts have been facing problems moving cash back and forth within the Country.Speaking to the church leaders, most of whom were Pentecostals, the Vice President said churches are encouraged to buy shares in the newly established Foya Community Bank. Thanking the Vice President for the visit, the Head of God’s Glory Free Pentecostal Church, Rev. Joseph Bannah assured the Vice President that they would communicate the information to their various congregations, while Rev. James Plackie, Pastor of the Free Pentecostal Global Mission Church in Kakata, Margibi County, extended an invitation to the Vice President to visit Kakata. Also in attendance were a number of prominent businessmen and women who also welcomed the idea and pledged to work with the Church leaders to realize the project.
